Charlotte’s Best Brunch: Local Favorites

From Bloody Marys to Eggs Benedict; bottomless mimosas to all-you-can-eat-buffets, here’s where you can find the best brunch in Charlotte, North Carolina. This updated edition of Charlotte’s best brunch features six of my favorite Queen City brunch spots and the best dishes (and morning cocktails) to order at each.

A table with five plates of assorted breakfast dishes, including eggs, toast, and vegetables, is arranged on a gray surface with a flower vase in the corner—perfect for experiencing Charlotte's best brunch. Utensils rest atop each plate.

I love brunch.

I have always loved brunch.

But brunch looks a little different these days. As a mom of two toddlers, many weekend mornings are spent doing our favorite toddler activities in Charlotte, or in the fall, visiting one of our favorite pumpkin patches.

When I first wrote this post back in 2017, I was a 25-year-old newly transplanted Charlottean whose ideal Sunday involved girlfriends, Bloody Marys, and a very intentional plan to do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. Brunch was an event. A lifestyle. A commitment.

A hand holds a Bloody Mary cocktail garnished with cheese cubes, meats, vegetables, and leafy celery—just the kind of creative drink you’ll find at top Twin Cities restaurants, set here against a rustic brick wall background.

Fast forward a few years (and two kids later), and brunch is still sacred — it’s just… louder. And earlier. And sometimes at home–if you’re making breakfast or brunch at home you should whip up pumpkin waffles, a bagels and lox brunch board, breakfast casserole, strawberry bellinis or a true and tested Bloody Mary bar with homemade Bloody Mary mix.

That said, I still take brunch very seriously.

As more and more people have found this post by searching for “Charlotte’s Best Brunch” (hello, new Google friends 👋), it became clear this guide needed a refresh.

Since the original version, a couple of beloved spots have closed, one only resurfaces for Easter and Mother’s Day, and my own definition of “the best brunch” has evolved right along with my life. (PS if you are looking for other Charlotte restaurant insider tips, we have a whole Charlotte restaurants guide, plus the best pizza in Charlotte, the best wings in Charlotte, the best patios in Charlotte, best breweries in Charlotte and best BBQ in Charlotte.)

A breakfast pastry topped with a sunny-side-up egg and black pepper sits on a round plate, placed on a white hexagon-tiled surface—just one tempting option at the best brunch in Charlotte.

After living in Charlotte for over thirteen years and brunching my way across the Queen City, I’ve learned something important:

There isn’t one best brunch in Charlotte.

The best brunch depends on what you’re looking for.

Are you craving a laid-back, family-friendly spot where kids are welcome and coffee refills are plentiful?

Looking for a celebratory, bottomless-mimosa situation when friends are in town?
Want something casual and cozy… or big and boozy… or somewhere you can roll in post-church without judgment?

A marble table with various flower arrangements, including roses, dahlias, and pampas grass, stands under modern chandeliers in a stylish indoor space—perfect for enjoying the best brunch in Charlotte under high ceilings.

Whether you’re brunching with toddlers, friends, visiting family, or just your favorite morning cocktail, Charlotte has a spot for you.

So grab a hot cup of coffee, a Bloody Mary, or mimosa and let’s break down the best places to brunch in Charlotte, depending on your mood, your crew, and how ambitious you’re feeling before noon.

Note: This list is in alphabetical order. We recommend every single one of these local restaurants, however, restaurants with a **Chrissie’s Pick** are my favorites on this list.

Artisan’s Palate

Tickets start around $20 which includes the themed drag show and a brunch buffet.

Haberdish

Hours: Saturday & Sunday   11am – 3pm

Why we like it:  Creative Southern comfort food done exceptionally well, with brunch dishes that feel indulgent but thoughtful.

Family-friendly note: Lively and welcoming. We have always felt comfortable dining with our toddlers at Haberdish!

What to order: Chicken and waffles, smoked trout deviled eggs, quiche de jour, chicken biscuit sandwich, and the cinnamon roll (which I think about more often than is reasonable).

Haberdish is one of my all-time favorite Charlotte restaurants, and weekend brunch is the perfect way to kick off your day.

One of the best parts? Some of my favorite dinner staples make an appearance at brunch (hello, mac and cheese topped with crispy chicken skins), alongside brunch-only dishes and clever twists on their classics. Think Smoked Trout Deviled Eggs, Fried Chicken and Waffles, quiche of the day, eggs, biscuits and gravy, country ham — and then there’s the cinnamon roll. A cinnamon roll so good it deserves its own paragraph. It will change your life.

Heist Brewery

Location: 2909 N Davidson St STE 200, Charlotte, NC 28205

Hours: Currently not open after a fire significantly damaged its facility back in July 2024.

Heist was our go to brunch spot when we were childless and in our 20s and early 30s.

If Sunday Fun Day is calling your name, Heist is the place to do it. Their brunch buffet is $22 and they recently added a build-your-own waffle station. Beer pitchers are $5 and mimosa carafes are $10.

It’s the kind of place that feels special without being stuffy — perfect for a leisurely brunch, a celebratory meal, or when you’re craving something a little more indulgent.

.The elegant interior — inspired by classic European cafés — makes this one of the most beautiful brunch spots in Charlotte and a standout choice for French cuisine in the city.

La Belle Hélène provides a little taste of France in Uptown Charlotte. Led by Top Chef alum Jamie Lynch, the restaurant serves French staples with a modern twist covering all of the classic favorites like omelets, crepes and indulgent French toast. Legion Brewing SouthPark

**Chrissie’s Pick**

Location: 5610 Carnegie Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28209

Hours: Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM

Why we like it: A strong brunch menu paired with excellent local beer, all in a spacious setting that works for just about any kind of Sunday plan.

Family-friendly note: Very family-friendly — plenty of space, a relaxed vibe, and lots of kid-approved options make it an easy brunch with little ones or extended family.

What to order: Roast Pork Hash, Breakfast Steak Burrito, Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, and Wood-Grilled Steak and Eggs.

Legion Brewing SouthPark brings together two of my favorite things: brunch and craft beer — and it does both really well.

We love to take out of town guests to Legion because everyone usually leaves impressed. While I’ve enjoyed brunch at Legion’s Plaza Midwood location, the SouthPark outpost really shines. The larger space allows for a bigger kitchen and a more expansive brunch menu, and it shows.

This is an ideal brunch spot for showing off Charlotte’s brewery scene to out-of-towners, grabbing a casual Sunday meal, meeting up with family, or stopping in post-church — we always see plenty of families dining when visit.

The brunch menu makes great use of their wood-fired ovens, with options like cornbread, breakfast pizzas, sandwiches, breakfast bowls, pancakes, French toast, and hearty skillets. Pair your meal with a beer flight, a pint, or a classic brunch cocktail — including a solid, spicy Bloody Mary.

A sliced bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion, and capers is displayed on parchment paper—perfect for enjoying while catching up on the latest episodes of South Park.

Poppy’s Bagels and More

Location:
Cotswold: 2921 Providence Road, Charlotte NC 28211
South End: 2201 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203

Hours: Daily 7am to 2pm

Why we like it: Authentic, New York–style bagels made fresh daily, served fast in a classic neighborhood deli setting.

Family-friendly note: Very kid-friendly — casual, quick, and perfect for an easy brunch stop with kids (just plan for a line or text ahead).

What to order: Bagel toasted with lox all the way, or with flavored cream cheese. Breakfast sandwich (bacon or sausage, egg and cheese).

Yes, yes — a bagel technically leans more quick breakfast than full-on brunch, but I’m including Poppy’s Bagels anyway because sometimes brunch looks like a really excellent bagel eaten later in the morning. And also because I love bagels. And I really love Poppy’s.

Poppy’s serves the best bagels in Charlotte (I will not be taking counterarguments at this time). The neighborhood deli vibe is spot-on, the staff is friendly but efficient, and they keep the line moving — which is good, because there’s almost always a line.

Owner Ronnie moved from New York to Charlotte and quickly realized the Queen City was lacking a truly great bagel. So he did what any reasonable New Yorker would do and set out to “create the best bagel south of the Mason-Dixon line.” Mission accomplished.

All bagels are made fresh daily using the traditional kettle-boiled and baked method. My go-to order is either a toasted bagel with lox all the way (tomatoes, red onion, capers, cream cheese) or toasted with scallion cream cheese — both are perfection.

Poppy’s is wildly popular, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. Pro tip: use their text-ahead ordering if you know what you want and want to skip the line. I’m also thrilled they’ve opened a South End location, though I was fully prepared to keep driving to Cotswold because some things are worth the commute.

Ballantyne 12330 Johnston Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277

Why we like it: Ruby Sunshine in South End brings bold New Orleans–style brunch to Charlotte in a fun, energetic setting that feels perfect for a lively weekend meal. Ruby Sunshine in Ballantyne offers the same Big Easy–inspired brunch menu in a slightly calmer, more relaxed setting.

Family-friendly note: The South End location is family-friendly, especially earlier in the day, although the neighborhood caters more to young professionals in their 20s. The Ballantyne location tends to feel more relaxed and spacious, making it more family-friendly and easier for dining with kids.

Must-order dishes: Seasonal beignets, Bayou Shrimp Benedict, Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles, and pancakes. For drinks, try a mimosa flight or the Bloody Mary with bacon-infused vodka.

Originally a New Orleans–based franchise, Ruby Sunshine delivers the flavors of the Big Easy with a full lineup of creative Benedicts and comfort-forward brunch dishes with a Cajun flair. The South End location fits right in with the neighborhood’s high-energy brunch scene and is a great pick for group brunches or out-of-town guests.

Family-friendly note: Very family-friendly. The bright, upbeat atmosphere and customizable menu make it an easy choice for dining with kids, though waits can be long on weekends.

Must-order dishes: Pancake Flight (pineapple upside-down, cinnamon roll, and strawberry shortcake), the Benny Duo (choose any two Benedicts), omelets, classic and creative Benedicts, and plant-based breakfast options.

We first discovered Snooze on a trip out West over 10 years ago, when we popped into their Boulder location for a mid-morning brunch. We were thrilled when the the Denver, Colorado based breakfast only restaurant was expanding to Charlotte!

Snooze is known for its fun approach to morning food and its mix-and-match ordering style. Whether you’re splitting pancakes, sampling multiple Benedicts, or building your own perfect plate, Snooze makes brunch feel customizable — ideal for indecisive brunchers and big groups alike.

A white plate with two waffles topped with chocolate syrup, a scoop of whipped cream, and crispy bacon strips, set on a wooden table—just what you’d expect from the best brunch in Charlotte.

Strawberry Hill 4223 Providence Rd Suite D, Charlotte, NC 28211

Why we like it: The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and it works just as well for a laid-back weekend meal as it does for a social, margarita-forward brunch.

Must-order dishes: hot cakes, huevos rancheros or huevos divorciados. Bloody Maria or Michelada to drink.

Supperland

Location: 1212 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205

Hours: Sunday 10:30 AM  to 3:00 PM

Why we like it: Supperland’s brunch is an experience — not just a meal. Set inside a beautifully restored former church, this reservation-only brunch buffet feels indulgent, celebratory, and perfect for a special occasion or a long, leisurely weekend brunch.

Family-friendly note: Family-friendly, and they have kid pricing for their buffet menu. The buffet setup works well for families, but the price point and refined atmosphere make this a better fit for special outings rather than an everyday brunch.

Must-order dishes: You don’t order individual plates here, but don’t miss the warm cinnamon rolls served tableside, plus the rotating hot buffet items like frittatas and Benedicts, along with the pastries, cured meats, fresh fruit, salads, yogurt, and tea sandwiches.

Brunch at Supperland is reservation-only and priced at $65 per adult (plus tax and tip). Kids under 12 eat for $25, and children under two eat free. The buffet stretches through the main aisle of the church-turned-restaurant, with pastries, salads, yogurt, fruit, cured meats, and tea sandwiches, while hot items like frittatas and Benedicts line the chef’s counter. Chef Greg Collier is a James Beard–nominated chef who knows breakfast like it’s a personality trait. The food coming out of his kitchen is consistently, wildly good.

Collier moved his breakfast restaurant from Rock Hill to 7th Street Public Market and has made it a must visit. I love Chef Collier’s cooking style and his creative spins on Southern favorites, all while focusing on locally sourced and seasonal food.

The bottom line is that Greg is just great at breakfast (it makes sense that their tagline was “building a better breakfast”) and everything from chicken and waffles to seasonal specials is delish. TN fries are life changing and a must order.
