6-8basil leavesremoved from stems, plus more for garnish
juice of 2 limes
2tablespoonshoney
4ouncesgin
iceas needed
seltzer water or club sodaas needed
Instructions
Place blackberries, basil, lime juice, and honey into a cocktail shaker and muddle together by pressing down on the fruit and herbs lightly with a muddler or spoon and giving a few gentle twists. You should see juice squirting out of the blackberries.
Pour gin into cocktail shaker.
Add ice to the shaker and shake until chilled and well combined.
Fill two cocktail glasses with crushed ice.
Strain blackberry-basil mixture into the two glasses, or if you're like us and prefer to enjoy the bits of blackberries and basil that are a results of the muddling, don't use a strainer when transferring to cocktail glasses.
Top each cocktail with seltzer water or club soda.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Notes
This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled and made in a pitcher for a crowd. Rather than using a cocktail shaker, stir all ingredients in a pitcher before serving, and don't worry about straining the fruit and herbs.
