@Dawn has totally elevated Steele Creek’s (and Charlotte’s!) breakfast game. Highlights include breakfast burritos, asiago cheese sauce and a whole lotta coffee.
I’ve been writing monthly for Creative Loafing Charlotte since February. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Creative Loafing for a few reasons: I like writing; I like to eat; it’s good exposure; and I get to put a spotlight on some of my favorite Charlotte restaurants that are a little more, for lack of a better phrase, “off the (b)eaten path.” (I try to keep my stories focused on spots that maybe haven’t been written about before or haven’t gotten a ton of media attention).
I get especially thrilled when I write about special places in our neighborhood. While I went kicking and screaming to Steele Creek in December of 2014, it has been fun over the past two years to watch our neighborhood grow. One welcome addition has definitely been @Dawn, Chef Gregory Collier and his wife Subrina’s breakfast concept in Ayrsley Town Center.
Greg and Subrina are the genius masterminds behind the popular breakfast joint, The Yolk, in Rock Hill, and we have welcomed their delicious breakfast @Dawn over the border. I love everything about it from their partnerships with local farmers and purveyors, to their coffee game and wide selection of tasty breakfast options. Get the 5k breakfast burrito; it comes smothered in Asiago cheese sauce. Truly, Asiago cheese sauce is a gift from the heavens.
